End of an Era: Dreamspinner Press and Me

Today, I'm grateful for the decade I spent as a Dreamspinner Press author.

Yesterday was bittersweet, as the 20 titles I requested the rights back for were returned to me. Signing that contract felt like signing divorce papers.

During the time we were together, Dreamspinner was a tireless advocate of my work, shepherding not only traditional publishing routes of digital and paperback books, but also getting my work translated and sold in Spanish, Italian, French, and German. They produced many audiobooks of my work. They got my work reviewed in places like Entertainment Weekly, Booklist, Kirkus, and Publisher's Weekly.

But...nothing in life lasts forever. It's saddening to see us come to the end of the road like this (details: https://accrispin.blogspot.com/2019/09/authors-concern-grows-over-late-royalty.html). I hope, more than anything, that Dreamspinner can right their ship.

In the coming months, you will see many of my books disappear from sales outlets. Rest assured, everything is in place to bring them back to new and exciting life. All of the books should be back for sale at the usual outlets by early-to-mid 2020.

And, I'm grateful to you, my readers, who conspire with me to bring my stories to life. I promise to continue to write with the purpose of engaging you, entertaining you, and touching your heart.

  1. I hate you and the other authors are having to go through this. Anything I or On Top Down Under can do to push your books when they're re-released, we'll gladly do it.

I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say thank you for keeping us entertained. Your books have gotten me through a lot over the years. I'll keep reading them until you stop writing them. And then I'll just reread them. ;)

  2. Thanks for the kindness in your words and in your offer. This is a time of grieving, honestly, but also a time for hope as I explore new partnerships and paths to bringing my work to my readers. You've always been an awesome supporter of my work and I am more grateful for that than you'll ever know.
