Win a FREE Signed Copy of BASHED
To celebrate the publication of Bashed, my hate crime horror/romance novel, I am going to give away one autographed FREE copy of the novel to readers of this blog.
To win, all you have to do is post a comment below (and if you're reading this on Facebook, please go to the source blog to post your comment; only comments posted there will count), become a follower (click in the box to your right) and that's it. I will be checking back all week long to see who's signed up, and will announce the winner this Friday, April 10 (it could be a GOOD Friday for you).
Here's a little bit about what Bashed is about:
Three haters. Two lovers. And a collision course with tragedy.
When Donald and Mark left the Brig that October night, they had no idea their lives and love were about to be shattered by fag bashers, intent on pain, and armed with ridicule, fists, and an aluminum baseball bat.
The cowardly hate crime leaves one half of a couple alone and haunted—literally and figuratively—by the memories and denied promise of new love.
Bashed charts the course of a journey from grief to hope, from death to life, and from hate to redemption. Come along on a trip that encompasses suspense, horror, and—ultimately—romance.
Don't want to wait for the contest to be over? Go to the MLR website where you can read the prologue and get all the easy options for ordering.
Thanks! Feel free to pass the word!

Hi Rick ... I just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS on your continuing success!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to read your book! I also didn't know you had a blog, I do as well, to market my photogarphy. I'd be honored if you checked it out, too.
ReplyDeleteMorning Rick! I just picked up Orientation to read. this one looks good too.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to reading Bashed. One way or another, bank robbery as an option, I will get a copy of it. LOL.
ReplyDeleteLoved the prologue/intro! Can't wait to read the whole book.
ReplyDeleteMy reading hand is ready and waiting to turn the pages...
ReplyDeleteHey, man. Can't wait to read the new one!

Stepping out today to find me Rick Reed. Otherwise gonna fire up Amazon, which would be a lot easier now that I think of it.
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!!
Fire up Amazon, Jim. I guarantee you'll have better luck and you won't find it anywhere cheaper.
ReplyDeleteAny novel with a character named Don works for me. Can't wait to add it to my pile, Rick.
ReplyDeleteHi Rick,
ReplyDeleteI am your honest follower of your work several years already. I am recommending Ur books to everyone who is in contact with me. It would be amazing if Ur books would be translated in some other languages, as croatian/serbian for example.
All the best
Samo
Just read a portion of the book on MLR press and it gave me goosebumps. Very good from what I read and can't wait to read the rest of it to see where it is going. And loved your other works so far.
ReplyDeleteoooh, eerie connection to this novel...I met my husband 17 years ago at a bar called the "Brig" in Portland, Oregon. I hope you're loving Seattle, (his family still lives there). It was a big change moving out to Cleveland, just as I know it was a big change for you to move to the West Coast. Congrats on your continued success!
ReplyDeleteI decided to, (or have already) included you as gay-horror writer on my major adultfanfiction site's special book review space, (which has very high reader traffic) for others to be able to read your acclaimed stories - What I read so far is very inspiring, since it's based on what you really had experienced in part. That's always the best source to come up with something special and believable. I wanted to order a few books or yours already and I'd love to get your 'BDSM' e-book 'Fugue' most of all as proper paperback soon too. Keep the ink flying – or pressing the keys as it may be!
ReplyDeleteI loved "Orientation," and I'm looking forward to reading "Bashed" as well.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to reading this.
ReplyDeleteI would love to read this book. I have IM & In The Blood I plan to buy them someday

Your ability to bring your characters to life, in a believable situation always thrills me. Your stories have always kept me on the edge of my seat and you never disappoint. Thanks for bringing yet another wonderful story, that could be and probably is very true, and giving us, your fans, the treat of seeing how your mind works....
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the new release, Rick!!!
ReplyDeleteAll the best!
Anthony
Mine, mine, mine...Okay, that may sound just a tad greedy, but hey. I will have this book. Congratulations on yet one more edge of the seat read, Rick.
ReplyDeleteHugs
Wow, here I come at the bottom of the page *lol*. I'd love to read this, I've already enjoyed Orientation and VGL Male - great stories! :)
ReplyDeleteI've already downloaded a copy but I'd love to have an autographed copy! You can't sign my Kindle!
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying getting to know your writing. I've read "High Risk" and have "Deadly Vision" and now "Bashed" on my reading list.
I'm glad I've found you and added you to my "MUST READ" list!
I hope I did this right... I clicked on "follow" and since I am not reading the blog on facebook, I have to assume I'm posting my comment in the right place.
ReplyDeleteThe premise of "Bashed" sounds like a prime thriller for anyone, regardless of their sexual orientation.
I also noticed the book icons on here... IM has a different cover than the copy I own... did it get a redesign??
Babymoose,
ReplyDeleteThe IM cover posted on the blog is for the new ebook version of IM (as opposed to the print version, put out by a different publisher).
Congratulations on your new book! Sounds thrilling! Can't wait to read it! Sorry, I haven't read anything by you, yet. So many of your stories sound like my kind of reading. I promised myself I would pick up a copy as soon as I finish the book I'm currently reading. Not sure where to begin... Any suggestions? -Daley (www.twitter.com/daleylickliter)
ReplyDeleteI read an excerpt on one of my lists the other day, Rick, and it was chilling. Seeing as that was exactly what you intended you certainly drew my interest:)
ReplyDeleteI have read one of your early books and hope to read more. You are a great writher and I wish you lots of continued success.
ReplyDeleteSleepy, let's not get into my "writhing" on here. But seriously, thanks for the kind words. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteLMAO @ your writhing, as long as it isn't in agony, can I watch?
ReplyDeleteRick, Rick, Rick. Such a prolific writer, I cannot keep up. Seriously though, keep up the wonderful writing and I will forever be a fan.
Put you at the top of my list knocking Shirley Jackson and Ira Levin each down a peg.
Hugz,
Marty
Wow. I am seriously honored, Marty.
ReplyDeleteBashed sounds like another fantastic book. The excerpt I read has snagged me and I know I will definitely be getting a copy soon. Congrats and keep up the fantastic work. Your books totally rock.
ReplyDeleteBeen reading your work since you first started. You are truly a gifted and talented man who truly knows what the audience wants, which many authors do not always. And the fact that you love Black Jelly Beans just adds flavor to the mix. You my fine Sir are an inspiration and keep us in suspense. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI am a seriously broke grad student, who is stuck reading assignments for school and I need just one good piece of fiction to feed my fiction-addiction between semesters.
ReplyDeletePlease take pity and pick me for a free copy. ;)
After AFWAN, I'm looking forward to reading this. I'm curious how you choose the cover art, did you have a say in it?
ReplyDeleteHey, Rick! I recently picked up Dead End Street and am lookiing forward to reading it. Bashed looks good as well! Here's wishing you many sales!
ReplyDeleteKassa,
ReplyDeleteMLR Press did give me input into the cover. Did you like it?
I do. I like the full picture you posted and it's certainly evocative.
