Gay Pride Float Torched in Alaska

Just ran across this news item in the Opposing Views online newsletter and thought I'd share it with you. I'm not really surprised that someone would deliberately set a Gay Pride float aflame in Sarah Palin's home state, but I did find one thing to feel glad (or should that be "glaad"?) about in the story:

"The LGBT community of Anchorage immediately rallied and, with donations and support, built a new float in less than 48 hours that included burned pieces salvaged from the original. They named the new float Phoenix Rising, and it won the Grand Prize in the July Fourth parade."

That'll show 'em!

  1. Oh, man. Well. Silver lining but still. We live in a culture of impossible bullying. Nice to see someone "make lemonade". (but our country would be nicer without some of the lemons.)
