I saw Matt Alber perform last night in Seattle. This song, The End of the World, really moved me--and before I saw him, everyone said to me, "Oh you have to see this video." I didn't look it up on YouTube until this morning. I was glad I got to hear Matt sing this live first (although it's a great video) because in addition to him being about six feet away from me, I heard his story of making the video and approaching his straight Sicilian barber about shooting the video in his barbershop.
The barber asked, "Matt, you're really gonna kiss a man?"
And Matt told him, "Yes. And it's going to be the most romantic kiss you've ever seen."
And Matt was right. See for yourself.

Ah, yes, can't get much more romantic than that.
ReplyDeleteMatt was right.
ReplyDelete"it's going to be the most romantic kiss you've ever seen."
Thank you for sharing this video. The song is amazing. Such a beautiful voice.
What a wonderful way to start a Friday. Sigh. That was SO beautifully done. Thanks, Rick, for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteWow! I have tears in my eyes, just watching it. Thanks for sharing, Rick!

Thanks Rick. It was...God. No words for it. Where's my damned Kleenex...
ReplyDeleteI miss those old-time barbershops. I also miss men dressing in suits and wearing those cute hats.
ReplyDeleteKind of a strange song, but very romantic. I've had that happen more than once, where there was such a strong attraction we kiss before introducing ourselves. It's something special, to be stored in the heart and remembered on lonely days.
Thanks for sharing.
That's romance. If we could only bottle that. Sad and sweet and hopeful and all the good things that make worth risking.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing, Rick.

Oh man, this is by far the most romantic video clip I've seen. Tears in my eyes and butterflies in my stomach.
ReplyDeleteBefore this I'd never heard of him, but I love his melancholic voice and this clip is perfect for it. The light through the window, the dancing and the old fashioned, bend him over your knee (not THAT way), kiss.
Perfection
*Clutches heart and swoons*
ReplyDeleteRick, that was beautiful. Thank you. (All teary-eyed now and must get back to writing. Time to resort to the ol' sweatshirt sleeve.)
ReplyDeleteVery romantic. Like an old Hollywood film. What a gorgeous voice.
ReplyDeleteOh, lovely! I've heard the song before somewhere but the video makes it complete. I'm headed straight for Amazon to find Matt Alber and any albums he's done. Thanks so much, Rick!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this video. Very romantic. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteLovely. Just lovely.
ReplyDeleteAs always Rick, your blog rocks.
Thanks for sharing. Beautiful song, beautiful voice, and a perfect setting. Loved the kiss.
ReplyDeleteThat was lovely. Thanks for sharing that with us.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful! He has a fabulous voice, I loved the nostalgic setting...and that dance and kiss. Wow. Been a while since I've seen something that purely romantic. Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this Rick. I have a friend in New York who is a crooner. He doesn't abide contemporary music but he may be open to this. It would be nice to see him expand his horizons a little. (Oh good Lord, when did I become one of those annoying people who tries to change others? Oh well, I'm still going to send him this link. hehe)
