ABOUT THE BOOK

One drunken phone call with a desperate plea for help, and Patrick races to stop his best friend from marrying the wrong man.

Patrick never stopped loving Declan, even if he did shove him away at graduation when they kissed. His alpha-type brothers and father, with all their firefighter history, would never accept him being bi, or understand his need to step outside of the family firm and be a cop. So, he hides how he feels, and ends up losing the only man he’s ever really loved. The only reconciliation they tried was on the night he found out Declan was engaged, and he never imagined he’d have a chance to make things right. That is, until he receives a desperate phone call from Declan asking to be rescued. Through travel chaos and storms, Patrick finally reaches the venue in the Colorado mountains, but with an empty wedding room and no sign of Declan or the fiancรฉ, he knows he’s too late.

All too familiar with rejection, jilted by his fiancรฉ on his wedding day, and lost, Declan has no idea what comes next. He never imagined he’d be entirely alone after his former fiancรฉ and the wedding party leave, or that an avalanche would trap him in the hotel over Christmas. And worse? Patrick is in the hotel with him and won’t leave him alone. Sharing a room with his former best friend is the last thing Declan wants, but maybe nature has given him a sign that he needs to confront the past and find a way to move on with his life. If only it was easy to fall out of love with the man who holds your heart.

All the books in the Snowed Inn collection are standalone stories and can be read in any order.

New and Notable: To Be Chosen by Michael Travis Jasper

A great read for fans of #LGBTQ #fantasy!

ABOUT THE BOOK

A PARABLE FOR MODERN TIMES...

Roman didn't believe in magic or miracles. He believed in personal responsibility and making things happen. He was a force of nature in the corporate world...until his little girl died. That's when he lost his reason.

Blair believed in magic and miracles. She was born a witch, and then married a Christian minister that confirmed all of A her faith in the supernatural. She thought her marriage would last forever, then it stopped in the span of a breath.

Darby believed in fairy magic--the kind gay people make for themselves to survive in an unwelcoming world. College and physical training were a poor substitute for a social life until a hook-up with a classmate showed him people have destinies and there are no coincidences.

Before time began, God chose these three strangers for a mission. They would be known as the Avatarn. The Creator granted supernatural powers to each of them, and a shared immortal mentor appearing in a variety of forms to guide their journey. They will unite to fight a demonic invasion from another world and from Earth's own past. A motley group of friends and even the ghosts of loved ones join these outsiders, chosen to be God's Hammer, as they battle in city streets and farmyards to save humanity and each other.

Supernatural romance, spirituality, mystery, suspense, magical realism and humor combine in an adventure that provides a glimpse into the hardest and sweetest universal truths.

This contemporary fantasy is a provocative paranormal thriller for all those whom believe in a higher power or the magic that dwells within each of us. The surprising bonus is the chosen family born of a quest to save others while finding and fulfilling individual purpose.

Champion good, brave heart, when fear taunts from your reflection. Evil is old, but love lasts forever.

Michael longs for a partner, and he hopes serious but sweet Brad Halberstam is the one. His housemate reminds him that Michael always latches on to someone during the holidays, so he won’t be alone. A bad breakup killed his interest in serious relationships, but he reconsiders that stance when gorgeous single dad Gabe walks into the shop. Loren helps young Ian see it’s okay to be himself, and together, Loren and Gabe create a new pattern for a family full of love.

Bad things happen when supos go unchecked. That's why Abarra needs The Ministry: to keep tabs on royals with powers run amok. Queen Maialen has entrusted the safety of her subjects to her nephew, Prince Xabier, placing the agency in his capable hands.

Only, the Prince would rather spend his days putting his own power to good use in the vineyards than to wither away on the bureaucratic vine. Tired of policing perpetrators and babysitting bean-counters, he schemes to groom his first lieutenant (and second cousin) the Duke of Shrubs. After months spent moving chess pieces, he is poised to convince the Queen to assign his cousin to his post.

But an unlikely pawn still stands in his way: the sexy Zain Otxoa is the pushiest pencil-pusher in all of The Ministry and head of internal affairs. Prince Xabier has plotted to have him fired at least thrice. Zain's influence over the Queen—his only saving grace—is baffling.

When a master maneuver to have Zain reassigned exposes a shocking imbroglio, Prince Xabier learns The Ministry isn't what it seems. And Zain isn't a pawn at all.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Devotion

Will Tanner realize he’s wrong and claim his mate before Finley’s devotion is gone? Finley Cooper is tired of waiting for his destined mate to be ready to claim him. In deference to human laws, he’s already agreed to wait until he’s eighteen. But now his birthday has come and gone—and his mate has a new set of excuses.

Finley doesn’t understand it any more than his wolf does, and he’s beginning to wonder if fate made a mistake. Tanner Pearce wants nothing more than to claim his mate, but he worries that Finley is too young. Tanner will never forget what happened when his best friend mated at Finley’s age, only to have that mate end up feeling trapped and breaking their bond.

While rare, it can happen, and the fallout Tanner witnessed as his best friend tried to deal with the break has haunted him for years. When Finley finally has enough, he threatens to find someone who will claim him if Tanner doesn’t, and Tanner realizes he needs to come to terms with his fears or risk losing his mate forever.

EXCERPT

He was gone. Finley was gone. Tanner couldn’t wrap his head around it. His mate had packed a suitcase overnight and gotten on a train.

Sure, the Coopers had promised Finley would be back. But Tanner didn’t understand why Finley hadn’t told him directly. When he’d shown up, they wouldn’t even tell him where Finley had gone, only that he’d taken a train. Finley’s two younger sisters, Anna and Beth, had both looked like they were ready to shift and claw his face off. The entire family was pissed at him, though he couldn’t fathom why. What had he done?

Tanner was, in fact, pretty sure the trip was a spur-of-the-moment decision. He just didn’t know what he could do about it. Especially since Finley refused to answer his cell phone. Any of the six times he’d tried, so far. Tanner stared down at his own again for a full minute, trying to decide what to do. It hurt—there were no two ways about it. He just couldn’t understand what was going on, what was happening with his mate.

He dialed Finley’s number once more and listened to the rings.

“What?” Finley’s annoyed voice answered after five. “You left.”

“Your powers of deduction are astounding.” Tanner frowned. That didn’t sound like Finley. Sure, Finley could be sarcastic at times, but snark—biting snark especially—wasn’t usually part of his repertoire. “Why?”

“I need some space. I can’t… I can’t keep doing this, Tan.” He paused and let the silence sit. “You know, mating at my age isn’t that far out of the question. It’s not even unusual.” Tanner pinched the bridge of his nose. He’d known Finley was frustrated, but he didn’t see why it was that big of a deal.

“Not for—” “Don’t you dare say ‘not for some.’ There’s nothing any different about me than there is them. We are destined mates. We’re supposed to be together. But we’re not. You won’t claim me. Since you won’t, maybe it’s time I find someone who will.”

Despite the panic rising in his chest—with the added bonus of his wolf’s panic—he heard how shaky those last words were.

“Baby, please don’t.”

“No.” Tanner was having real trouble breathing and wondered if the lack of oxygen was affecting his thought processes.

“No?”

“No. You don’t get to call me ‘baby’ anymore, Tanner. You don’t get to call me ‘mate.’ You don’t get to do anything anymore. Not unless you’re willing to claim me.” The silence sat heavy between them. Tanner struggled to keep the panic back, to find the words to speak.

“Are you… breaking up with me?” Finley didn’t answer for a few long moments, and Tanner’s already underperforming lungs struggled further. Finally: “I guess I am. Unless you claim me. Unless you’re ready to mate.”

Shit. “Finley, I—”

“No. Here’s the deal. I’m spending the summer… away. If I meet someone while I’m there, I’m not going to turn down the chance to date him. If I date him and like him, and he’s willing to mate and bond, then I’ll accept him. If you don’t want that, then you’re going to have to claim me. Use those amazing deductive powers you’ve got to figure out where I am.”

It took Tanner a full minute to realize Finley had hung up. He stared at his phone for quite a bit longer before setting it on the seat next to him. He considered trying to call back, but knew it would be futile. If Finley hadn’t turned the phone off, he at least wouldn’t answer. Tanner looked up, realizing he was still sitting in the Coopers’ driveway. Finley’s mom was looking out the window at him, her arms crossed and face set in angry lines. Tanner couldn’t begin to figure that out. He couldn’t believe they’d be that angry over him not claiming Finley yet. But he was too freaked out to try to understand that.

He started the car and pulled out of the driveway, only halfway paying attention to where he was going.

Maybe giving Finley space wasn’t a bad idea. As much as he didn’t want his mate so far away—and anywhere he had to take a train to get to was far—it might be good for him. Maybe he could get some of those experiences, though Tanner prayed to anyone who’d listen that they were still nonsexual. He didn’t really think Finley would date someone else. He didn’t doubt Fin was going to stay with another wolf pack, and there were very few gay wolves. So, hopefully, the threat was an empty one.

10 Silly Questions with Lambda-award Winning Mystery Author, Marshall Thornton

Delighted to have mystery writer Marshall Thornton with us today for some indelicate, yet oddly fulfilling, probing.

10 SILLY QUESTIONS WITH RICK R. REED AND MARSHALL THORNTON

RR: If you could invite any famous person, dead or alive, for dinner, what would you eat? MT: Rock Hudson. My plan would be to skip dinner entirely.

RR: Who do you think you are?
MT: I believe that writers can only write about themselves, so I guess I’m my books. And that’s maybe a little disturbing.

RR: What’s your problem?
MT: Money. I know that at base money is imaginary, and yet I can never manage to imagine myself having more.

RR: If you could have one wish, would you give it to me?
MT: Um, are you dying? Otherwise, no. (Honey, we're ALL dying.)

RR: Where you at?
MT: In front of my computer.

RR: If you had to choose only one vice, what would it be?
MT: Hmmm… I think we need definitions here. Sex is healthy so I don’t consider that a vice. Being judgmental is my idea of a vice. And no, I won’t give it up. I choose judgement.

RR: What’s your favorite brand of cereal?
MT: Oatmeal. In a cookie.

RR: When you wake up in the morning, what celebrity do you most resemble?
MT: Jack Nicholson in The Shining.

RR: Do you know your ass from a hole in the ground? And if so, how do you tell the difference?
MT: I do know the difference between my ass and a hole in the ground. Despite the rumors, no one has ever fallen into my ass, whereas a hole in the ground is dangerous.

RR: Do you have anything you’d like to plug?
MT: I’d like to plug that hole in the ground. I also have two books coming out, Never Rest 10/28, and Late Fees, a Pinx Video Mystery on 11/10.

BLURB for LATE FEES
The third book in the Lambda Award-Winning Pinx Video Mystery Series, Late Fees, will be out on November 10th.

Guest Post: Joe Cosentino on Holiday Tales from Fairyland

My Two Favorite Things: Holidays and Fairytales
Tales from Fairyland by Joe Cosentino

I’ve always loved fairytales, ever since my older sister first read them to me before bed eat night. I was totally entranced by peasants becoming princes and princesses and finding true love. The quaint locations, wit, wonder, drama, and happily ever after endings filled my young mind like fairies in an enchanted forest. I wanted to live in those palaces, meet the charming princes, and bring financial equality to those kingdoms. However, I was always dismayed that LGBT people didn’t ever inhabit those kingdoms and stories. So, I wrote The Naked Prince and Other Tales from Fairyland/Tales from Fairyland Book 1, published by Dreamspinner Press with an audiobook performed by Joel Leslie. Readers and listeners raved about my gay, comic, romantic twists on Cinderella, Pinocchio, Jack and the Beanstalk, Goldie Locks and the Three Bears, and The Snow Queen.

When readers begged for more, I decided to return to Fairyland, at my favorite times: the holidays for Holiday Tales from Fairyland/Tales from Fairyland Book 2. On Halloween in story one, Ichabod Crane, a young schoolteacher, has a boner over sexy and muscular farmer Brom Bones. When the residents of the homophobic Sleepy Hollow aren’t happy about it, the headless horseman rides into town. Will Ichabod fall off his horse into Brom’s strong, rescuing arms, teaching the town folk a lesson in acceptance they’ll never forget? The second story is a take-off on The Nutcracker and the Mouse King. At Christmastime, hunky Cavalier P.I. receives a visit from a new client, handsome young Fritz. Somebody strangled Fritz’s sister Clara with the ribbons of her toe shoes, and Fritz is the top suspect. But he seems more interested in the bulge in Cavalier’s tights than in getting himself off the hook. When Cavalier turns sweet on Fritz, it’s time for the private investigator to question his old dance partner the Sugar Plum Fairy, Clara’s husband the Nutcracker, Fritz’s other sister Louise, and Fritz’s Godpapa Drosselmeyer to save his intended, and find out: Who Killed Clara? Finally, at Winter Solstice, young Vasily falls in love with a mysterious, handsome man who rides by his orphanage each morning, noon, and night. Upon following him, Vasily discovers the man is a prince under the powers of Baba Yaga. Can Vasily rescue his tortured Prince Anton from the witch’s conversion therapy and dance around his pole on May Day?

You can enjoy these holiday fairytale stories in an e-book: Holiday Tales from Fairyland, or along with The Naked Prince and Other Tales from Fairyland in the paperback anthology: Tales from Fairyland Collection. I hope you read and enjoy these funny, sexy, heartwarming, romantic fairytales. They will no doubt bring you back to better, joyous times. I also hope the movie studio producing those amazing animated fairytales finally realizes that fairytales should include everyone—including the boy in love with his nutcracker doll!

Praise for The Naked Prince and Other Tales from Fairyland, the first Tales from Fairyland novella, published by Dreamspinner Press:
“This is a brilliant work, filled with imaginative twists and sly asides. This is adult literature, overflowing with sometimes gentle but often biting humor, and these fairy tales take on a new edginess without ever losing the morality underpinning each story. The Naked Prince and Other Tales from Fairyland gets my highest recommendation! If I could give it more than 5 Stars I would. Bravo, sir, bravo!” GGR Reviews
“Sometimes you are lucky enough to find an author that ticks every box you want as a reader, today I’m that lucky reader….a great saucy, fun collection and highly recommended.” Three Books over the Rainbow

“the stories are all well done and smart, engaging, funny and sweet.” Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words

“The Naked Prince and Other tales from Fairyland is a fun, hilarious collection of stories. Joe outdid himself taking old favorites from our childhood and putting a grown-up spin on them….If you like gay princes, sexy bears, giants, reporters, fairy tales, comedy, suspense, and, sweet, fun man-sex, this is for you.” Cathy Brockman Romance
“If you haven’t read anything by Cosentino, you don’t know what you are missing. His humor and penchant for drama bring these old favorites a new life as he ventures deep into Fairyland….If you love fairytales, you’ve got to read the naughty versions – they are even better!” Joyfully Jay Reviews
“I was most surprised by the author’s sense of humor and his ability to get me to not only laugh out loud, but actually to “belly laugh.” I highly recommend this to audiobook lovers, and especially to those who loved fairy tales in their childhood.” Hearts on Fire Reviews
“In this wickedly entertaining take on classic fairy tales, Joe Cosentino gives us four short stories full of all the characters you remember from storybooks – Cinderella, Pinocchio, Goldilocks, Captain Hook, Jack and the Beanstalk, Prince Charming and many more – but fair warning: This ain’t your childhood Cinderella. Welcome to a world where it isn’t Pinocchio’s nose that grows when he tells a lie. Goldilocks discovers three sexy daddy bears in the woods and ‘someone’s been sleeping in my bed’ takes on a whole other connotation. Jack is ‘very nimble’ but sadly also ‘amazingly quick’ and Prince Charming dons ‘palace protection’ for hot sex with Cinder. Extra bonus points for this wonderful quip: ‘I always suspected he had more down his throat than a frog.’” Gay Book Reviews
Joe Cosentino is the author of six novellas published by Dreamspinner Press: The Naked Prince and Other Tales from Fairyland (Open Skye Book Reviews Audiobook of the Month); the In My Heart series: An Infatuation & A Shooting Star; and the Bobby and Paolo Holiday Stories: A Home for the Holidays, The Perfect Gift, and The First Noel; the Nicky and Noah mysteries: Drama Queen (Divine Magazine’s Favorite LGBT Mystery), Drama Muscle (Rainbow Award Honorable Mention), Drama Cruise, Drama Luau, Drama Detective, Drama Fraternity; the Cozzi Cove series (NineStar Press): Cozzi Cove: Bouncing Back (Rainbow Award Honorable Mention/TBR Pile Book of the Month), Cozzi Cove: Moving Forward, Cozzi Cove: Stepping Out, Cozzi Cove: New Beginnings, and Cozzi Cove: Happy Endings; and the Jana Lane mysteries: Paper Doll, Porcelain Doll, Satin Doll, China Doll, and Rag Doll (The Wild Rose Press). Excerpt of Holiday Tales from Fairyland, Tales from Fairyland Book 2, by Joe Cosentino

Comfortable as always in my white tights and gold jacket, I leaned back in my chair and focused on my captivating young caller. He spoke in a velvety smooth voice. His eyes seemed to penetrate my soul. Believe me, the decorated Christmas tree next to my gold fireplace wasn’t the only thing rising. “I’m sorry about your sister.”
“Me too. The Dance Village Dance Captain thinks I did it.”
“Did you?”
“I want you to prove my innocence.”
“You didn’t answer my question.”
He sighed. “It doesn’t matter what I say. Nobody seems to believe me.”
I rested my elbows on the desk lined with figures of ballet dancers doing pirouettes. “I’d like to believe you.”
His handsome face softened. “And I’d like you to save me.”
I wanted to wrap my arms around him and protect Fritz from the world. “Then how about you tell me everything you know about this?”
“That may take some time.”
“I have nowhere else to go.”
“On Christmas Day?” He smirked. “Don’t you have anyone in your life, Cavalier?”
I met his gaze. “I could ask you the same question.”
“My parents are dead, and my sister has just been killed. What’s your excuse?”
“I pry into other people’s lives. It doesn’t leave me much time for a life of my own.”
“Lucky for me.” He smiled.
I’d never been that attracted to anyone before in my life. “How old are you?”
“Old enough to be tried in the Dance Village Square as an adult.”
“Meaning?”
His ruby lips parted, forming an intoxicating smile. “I’m legal, Cavalier. Twenty-one next month. And you?”
“I’m a decade older than you. So behave, or I’ll have to put you over my knee.”
“You’ll have to catch me first.” He winked. “And I’m not easily caught.”
The kid was driving me crazy. I wanted to assemblรฉ over the desk and have my way with him. Trying to maintain my professional persona, I said, “Let’s start with you telling me about this from the beginning.” Readying a pad lined with dancing snowflakes, I wrote on top, “The Case of: Who Killed Clara?”
Fritz tented his long thin fingers—and I wanted to devour them. “As kids, my sisters and I lived in a mansion. My parents weren’t around much, so the three of us spent most of the time in the playroom with our toys.”
I couldn’t resist. “Which was your favorite toy?”
“My soldier doll. He was strong and courageous. I slept with him every night.”
I couldn’t believe I was jealous of a doll. “And your sisters?”
Louise fussed over her Madame Charette doll, obviously exhibiting early lesbian tendencies. Clara loved her Nutcracker doll. Our godfather, Judge Drosselmeyer, gave it to her.”
Writing, I asked, “Can your godfather, the judge, assist you with your case now?”
He shook his head, and golden shafts formed a halo around his face. “He thinks I did it too. The patch over Godpapa’s eye isn’t the only thing keeping him from seeing clearly.”
“Let’s go back to the playroom when you were kids. How did the Nutcracker come to life?”
He did a double take. “You know about that?”
“I ran into your sister and the Nutcracker Prince when they were on their honeymoon in the Land of Sweets.”
“How sweet.” His dimples were like craters of honey.
I wanted to lick them dry. “I’m waiting for an answer to my question.”
“It’s quite a story. If I tell you, I doubt you’ll believe me.”
“Try me.” I moved my legs into third position to conceal my obvious arousal.

Good Karma, Good Books: Prince of the Sea by Jon Michaelsen

Every Wednesday, I put on my pimp clothes (zoot suits, feathered hats, platform shoes, and the like) and introduce you to something new and wonderful in the literary world. This week, I’m excited to shine a spotlight on Prince of the Sea by Jon Michaelsen

Here's what John has to say about his new book:
"I’ve lived in Georgia my entire life, and spent many vacations and long weekends on the beautiful coast. While in college, I discovered the tiny community of Tybee Island, a lazy seaside town about twenty minutes east of Savannah. There, the beaches are pristine and the barrier dunes natural and relatively undisturbed, having escaped the commercial and residential overdevelopment so common in more well known, popular destinations. I would often spend hours sitting on the dunes daydreaming of living on the “sandbar”, a term of endearment for the islet coined by locals. Descriptions of locales and happenings in Prince of the Sea are my own experiences, with a smattering of embellishment, of course, in the name of fiction."

BLURB
Can a broken heart find love at the bottom of the ocean?

Destiny calls Jonathan home…

Jonathan Lemke thought spending two weeks alone with his partner in a beachside cottage would help to rekindle the lost passion of their ten-year union. He’d chosen Tybee Island, a quiet seaside community on the Georgia coast east of Historic Savannah. Jonathan had spent his childhood growing up on the pristine shores of the barrier islet which continues to hold a special place in his heart.

The romantic surprise backfires when Paul, Jonathan’s partner, rushes off to Chicago for the chance to woo a high profile client, leaving Jonathan alone and brokenhearted until a chance meeting with a mysterious and seductive stranger linked to a beloved island legend provides a chance at discovering forever love.

But someone with strong familial ties to Tybee Island is desperate to expose its secrets and avenge a grudge decades in the making. An assailant so threatened by the forces of nature that defy explanation, he will stop at nothing to unmask ancient island lore…even if he must kill to prove it.
